I have installed the Star Office before. I have never really used it.
I hated the idea of forcing people to install it when upgrading Java VM.
However, Open Office is getting popular now.
I am very disappointed with Microsoft 2007. Microsoft Word is so difficult to use. Some simple tasks become so difficult. I cannot find out how to use the new layout feature in Microsoft PowerPoint.
I will give Open Office a try.
